It is important that you take safety precautions when buying anything on the platform. Whilst buying and selling things on the BabyActivityToys platform is safe… you still need to take the necessary precautions to avoid being scammed online.
Please take a moment to read the following tips when buying and paying for an item.
- The bottom line is Face to Face is Best! Where possible, meet the seller face to face to see the item and exchange payment. Try not to take large amounts of cash with you when meeting someone you don’t know. You might also want someone else with you or arrange to meet the seller in a public place.
- The last thing you want to do is make a payment before receiving an item; You risk losing that money if the item never arrives or is not as described. The best advice is to make arrangements to visit the seller to see the item before handing over any payment
- If you have to make payment before receiving the item, consider paying via PayPal. Paypal provides some sort of buyer protection that will you provide some sort of compensation or even your money back should you not receive the item or if it is significantly not as described.
- Be very aware that if you make a payment to someone by crediting their bank account via Internet banking or BACS, that payment cannot later be reversed. If you are going to do this you might want to make sure that you have received the item before making payment
- Be extremely cautious if the seller is asking for payment by postal order, Western Union, MoneyGram, Ukash or other untraceable methods. If you pay using any of these methods… you might not be able to claim your money back if anything goes wrong
- It is important that the whole conversation is done through our platform so that you can have all the evidence in one location if things do go wrong. Be extremely cautious if the seller is asking you to communicate directly by email rather than using the BabyActivityToys messaging service.
- If the seller has only given a mobile telephone number or email address, and wants to meet you at a location that is not their home; You want to make sure that the seller is not trying to hide their identity unnecessarily.
- Be extremely cautious if an item that is in high demand and is scarce in the shops is being sold for far much less than it usually goes for… Don’t let your common sense be clouded by what looks like an unbelievable bargain. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
